Don't know where the washer came from but oil in those pipes is normal. Thanks, Peter for your reply. I never ended up changing that breather pipe, as I was told by someone else that a little bit of oil is normal. You can see from the video that there isn't a terribly large amount. Maybe I will get around to it one day.

New Member. I'm working on getting my 1985 Riviera T-Type 3.8 turbo running after sitting for about 15 years. There is a short hose that runs from the back of the drivers side valve cover to the air intake pipe just before the turbo. This hose is badly deteriorated and has been patched with silicon over the years and is no longer usable.

The breather tube is now the oil return from the turbo (like most/all remote kits) and the oil fill port has a breather on it. Oil is coming out of the breather.

Near the top of the carb, there's what I assume a crankcase breather tube connection. The gas is gravity fed to the carb, and it sat overnight and the tank was empty. It leaked out through the crank breather hose connection on the carb, it also filled the cylinder with gas. I got rid of this by removing the spark plug and cranking the engine.

Breaking in a new-to-us Golf 6 with 1.4 TSI 120 HP (EA111), during cursory inspection noticed oil on outside of the intake pipe directly adjacent the turbo. Couldn't see where it was coming from so took out air filter to get a look down the tube, saw a little oil pooled as shown below.
