Oil for Muncie 4 Speed
I have used Mobil 1 GL-5 synthetic since 1990 (25 years!) in my tranny and it has never worked better-still has the GL-5. With that said, I did buy some GL-4 Redline synthetic recently and will change it over the winter to the redline synthetic. The synthetic works MUCH better than the conventional gear oil in my 4 speed.

I'd also suggest avoiding synthetics and stick with a quality 75w-90 (or 80w-90) dino gear lube. Make sure it is GL-4 not GL-5. I'm not even sure an 85w-140 oil is even available in GL-4. Team Chevelle #998. 1965 Malibu SS L79.
